A Preliminary Settlement Reached in WEN Class Action Lawsuit

As a matter of fact, a $26.25 million settlement is reached in WEN class action lawsuit.  Actually, the litigation process has been continuing already for three years. It involves a lot of consumers. In case the settlement gets final approval by the court, the company will have to place a warning label on its Cleansing Conditioner. Thus, according to proposed settlement, there are two ways of compensation for class members. The first avenue offers a refund of $25 for any person, who purchased the problematic WEN products. The second one is $20,000 for any consumer who used these products and suffered from hair loss or scalp pain. WEN class action lawsuit settlement refers to whose consumers who bought WEN hair care products from November 1, 2007, to August 1, 2016.

It was in 2015 when Wen Hair Products and the manufacturer Guthy-Renker faced a class action lawsuit. Plaintiffs filed a class action lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. A lot of women who used these products noted that WEN products caused hair loss.  Furthermore, plaintiffs also accused the company of using sulfates in their products. It’s interesting to point out that they were constantly advertising that these products are ‘’sulfate-free.’’ In their complaints, women accused WEN products of knowing about the problem for four years, as they received many complaints. However, the company failed to issue any recall, as the WEN class action lawsuit states. According to WEN class action lawsuit, WEN didn’t inform consumers about dangers connected with their products.

The lead plaintiff Amy Friedman states that she purchased Sweet Almond Mint WEN Cleansing Conditioner in 2015. After using this product for two weeks, she experienced unpleasant moments. She started losing her hair. Thus, WEN class action lawsuit alleges the company of violating the California false advertising law, as well as the Florida Unfair and Deceptive trade Practices Act.
