A class action lawsuit was filed against CenturyLink. The suit accuses the telecommunications company of practicing high-pressure sales tactics. As a result, consumers had to pay for accounts which they didn’t ask for.
It’s worth noting that the plaintiff Heidi Heiser filed this lawsuit in the state court of Arizona. Actually, she used to work for CenturyLink previously. Her job position was that of a home-based customer service and sales agent. This occurred between August 2015 and October 2016. According to the plaintiff, she lost her job just in a few days after letting the Chief Executive Officer of the telecommunications company know about the scheme during the company’s message-and-answer session. It is usually held on an internal message board.
The plaintiff mentioned in her complaint that certain people added some services or lines to customers’ accounts. The goal was indicating falsely on the company’s system the approval by a customer of certain new services, as well as lines. As a consequence, customers had to deal with charges not authorized by them, as the suit says.
Furthermore, the suit notes whenever the company had to deal with customer complaints concerning the unauthorized charges, they made their customer service and sales agents ( the plaintiff is one of them) tell customers that the telecommunications company’s system showed that they approved services and lines. Thus, the complaint says it was the customer’ word against the company.
The plaintiff points out that her concern about what was going on in the telecommunications company increased greatly when she became aware of Wells Fargo & Co. employees’ actions. Heiser learned that the employees of this company opened deposits, as well as credit card accounts without asking the customers permission. They aimed at earning incentives and meeting sales goals.
