A Legal Secretary

A legal secretary is far more than a standard secretary and the responsibilities are far-reaching. Of course you will have the usual secretarial duties to complete such as diary management, typing, filing and taking telephone calls. However you will have a far higher degree of responsibility than a normal secretary and you will be expected to be able to handle enquiries and administrate cases. You may even be asked to attend court during hearings. You will need to be fully au fait with all legal terminology and most legal secretaries undergo legal training that could eventually lead to them becoming fully qualified as an attorney – the sky is the limit!

A Corporate Attorney

Corporate attorneys specialize in helping companies with their legal affairs. You will need to be fully qualified in order to practice and your day to day caseload could include industrial tribunals, liability cases, contract law and all sorts of other corporate litigation work. The job will be varied and you can either be based within a legal office or in-house at a company. You will need to be an expert on all sorts of different aspects of contract law and corporate law and you can expect to be very highly rewarded for your endeavors once you get to a senior level.

A Criminal Attorney

Criminal attorneys represent the accused and ensure that they get a fair trial. They will collate evidence and statements and act on their client’s behalf in order to make sure that they are fairly represented. Criminal attorneys can specialize in one particular area of criminal law, but it is more common for them to be available for a number of different types of cases. An experienced and reputable criminal attorney will be highly sought after as their results are far more positive. You will need to know all of the ins and outs of criminal law and also be good at submitting a persuasive defense on behalf of your client.
