Can Your Kids Sue You for Putting Baby Photos on Facebook?
Parents in France have been warned that their country’s strict policies on privacy might soon restrict them on posting baby photos to Facebook.
Sounds funny, but hear us out.
Eric Delcroix, an expert on internet law and ethics, has stated that very soon children can take their parents to court for simply posting baby photos of their beloved children. If your parents are on Facebook, you are more likely to be tagged on an embarrassing photo of yourself at a certain stage of your life. Especially with the new “memory” feature available on Facebook.
Children do not always like to be photographed, not only, they don’t want the “family archives” to go public. In some cases, these photos may even be used for illegal purposes.
The legislators think that taking away a parent’s right to proudly expose their children and their achievements is simply bizarre.
This type of judicial action can later provoke fear among the young people and their parents. Instead, they should be taught to maintain their Social Media privacy and safety so that everybody is happy and nobody is taken to court.
