Trump University Under Several Class Action Lawsuits and Investigation
“If I had a choice of making lots of money or imparting lots of knowledge, I think I’d be as happy to impart knowledge as to make money”. Donald Trump
What a time to be alive. The United States of America is electing its’ 45th president. The elections of the United States have always been in the center of the world attention. Nevertheless, the recent interest in the 2016 elections has increased. Mostly because of the individuality and uniqueness of the running candidates. One of the most discussed personalities of the world politics today is Donald Trump. Of all the candidates, Donald Trump seems to be getting the most media coverage. His views on immigration, war, international politics, women and now the Trump University have brought him a worldwide popularity.
A former salesman for Trump University, Ronald Schnackenberg has recently released an affidavit, which exposes an enormous amount of evidence on the class-action lawsuit against Trump University filed in California by a group of Trump University ex-attendees.
Trump University or otherwise known as “The Trump Entrepreneur Initiative” has been established in 2004 by Donald Trump and his associates. It is a for-profit, non-accredited education company which offered courses in asset management, entrepreneurship, real estate and wealth creation. The fees ranged from 1,500$ to 35,000$ for the course. According to Schneiderman, Trump University has allegedly provided a 5$ million income to Donald Trump. The University has been under quite a few class action lawsuits and investigations. According to the lawsuits, the number of students to attend the free introductory webinars was 80,000. After the introductory course, more than 9,000 people paid about 1500$ for each three-day seminar. The mentoring and workshop packages earned Donald Trump at least 35,000$ per student. One of the participants of Trump University’s “Gold Elite” program is a 76-year-old retiree from New York, Manhasset, Bob Guillo.
“At first, it was embarrassing,” Guillo says in an interview with National Public Radio. “Then I became very, very angry that the man that scammed me out of all that money had the audacity to run for president. And I’m still angry.”
Trump Insists that the lawsuits are politically perpetuated and most of the participants gave positive feedback. Guillo was among the participants who gave Trump University a 5-star feedback. Nevertheless, he stated that most of the attendees were pressured into giving positive feedback. The New York attorney general argued that “The Trump system was to have people fill out an evaluation form with the instructor standing right in front of them, and it was not an anonymous form.” To what Martin, the Trump Organization attorney responded that the instructors weren’t present during the feedback and the allegations are “not credible”.
