Tesla Model X Problems Cause Owner Dissatisfaction with The Vehicle’s Quality

By on April 22, 2016

It was not so long ago when Tesla recalled nearly 3,000 Tesla Xs due to problematic third-row seats. Now, the company seems to have several discontent customers who complain about different Tesla Model X problems. So what? Will this go deeper to transform into a safety recall? Let us examine the facts first.

Tesla Model X is a luxury all-electric Sport Utility Vehicle that started being delivered to its owners in September, last year. The prices range between $85,500 and $144,000 depending on different options.

But it is a general truth that early adopters of any new model often have to deal with software problems and glitches. However, like a Tesla owner puts in, there might even be safety and usability issues.

A Tesla X owner Byron Deeter said he had to use another vehicle since his newly-purchased Model X is problematic too. Deeter tweeted on April 20, reporting about several problems with his car. One such problem was that the driver’s side door could be manually closed by the driver while the vehicle cannot sense the closed door. Deeter had thus to drive holding the door closed with one hand and controlling the car with another. Weird, yet true!

Another owner also has got considerable Tesla Model X problems. Michael Karpf planned to drive to his home in New York with his family after purchasing his new Model X in California. However, the journey home was a complete failure since the vehicle exhibited several flaws:

  • The so-called “falcon wing” rear doors did not close
  • Driver’s door did not open from outside
  • Driver’s window didn’t come down adequately
  • The large screen would freeze repeatedly
  • Climate control would not work properly

Mr. Karpf had to make visits to Santa Monica and Fremont service centers to have the flaws fixed.

Another Tesla Model X owner, Ann Carter has complained of her newly-bought SUV. The issue with the “falcon wing” doors is repeated here too. Additionally, according to Consumer Reports, Tesla’s message platforms are being flooded by consumer complaints mostly regarding the “falcon wing” door problem.

At the same time, Tesla prides itself in collaborating closely with every client to address all the issues. They think that this is the reason why nearly 98% of Tesla owners say they will purchase another Tesla vehicle as their next car. Well, let’s wait and see whether the company will be able to address all consumer complaints properly to ensure 98% client retention rate.
